Female Hormone Testing: Private Panels
If you are exhausted, wired at night, battling mood swings, stubborn weight or cycles that no longer behave, it is natural to wonder whether a female hormone test could give you answers.
In my online clinic, I offer three in-depth home hormone tests, the DUTCH test, the HuMap test and the Women's Health+ test. They go beyond asking "how much" of a hormone you have and look at how your body is making, using and clearing it. Together with your symptoms and history, that gives us a clear, personalised starting point for your nutrition and lifestyle plan.
Why I offer hormone testing
Hormones work as a network, so symptoms rarely point to a single cause. Two women with the same symptoms can have completely different patterns underneath, and that is why generic advice so often falls flat.
I offer testing because it lets me:
Stop guessing and work from your own data rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol
See patterns that symptoms alone cannot show, such as your cortisol rhythm across the day
Prioritise what to change first, so you are not overwhelmed
Explain what is happening in your body in a way that finally makes sense
Track your progress and re-test when it is useful
A test is not a diagnosis. I am a Registered Nutritional Therapist and I do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Testing is one piece of the picture, alongside your symptoms, cycle, history, diet and lifestyle.
The hormone tests I offer
DUTCH test (Precision Analytical)
The DUTCH Complete test (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) from Precision Analytical is completed at home. It evaluates 35 sex and adrenal hormones, including oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and cortisol, along with their metabolites. It also measures your daily free cortisol and cortisone patterns alongside nutrient and neurotransmitter markers, offering insights into both your hormonal and metabolic health.
If we want a closer look at your cortisol, the DUTCH Plus (Complete + CAR) test adds further free cortisol and cortisone analysis with an emphasis on your Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR). This is available at an additional charge, and we will talk through whether it would be useful for you on your call.
HuMap test (Doctors Data)
The HuMap is a urine-based hormone profile collected at home from four or five samples. It shows your steroid hormones and their metabolites, how well the enzymes that process them are working, and your cortisol at four points across the day (waking, morning, evening and night). It also looks closely at oestrogen metabolism pathways and includes a marker of oxidative stress. Optional neurotransmitter analysis can be included for an additional charge.
Women's Health+ test (Genova Diagnostics)
Women's Health+ is an at-home profile that brings several views of your health together in one report. It measures your sex hormones (including oestradiol, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA) and your cortisol rhythm through saliva samples, alongside urine markers that show how your body is metabolising oestrogen and organic acids that reflect your nutrient status and metabolic function. An optional genetic analysis can add further context. It is designed to give a broad, joined-up picture of your hormones, stress response and nutrition. For more details view my instagram post here.
Which test is right for you is something we decide together on your call, based on your symptoms, life stage and goals.
What we can learn from your results
Depending on the test, your results can give us insight into:
Sex hormones: oestrogen, progesterone and androgens such as testosterone and DHEA
Oestrogen metabolism: how your body is breaking oestrogen down and clearing it
Your cortisol rhythm: whether your stress hormone follows a healthy curve through the day, or is flat, high at night or low in the morning
Hormone pathways and enzyme activity: where your body may be struggling to convert or clear hormones
Oxidative stress and nutrient-related markers: clues about the nutrients and antioxidant support your body may need
Exact markers vary by test.
How I turn your results into a plan
Results on their own are just numbers. My role is to translate them into practical changes that fit your life:
Cortisol pattern: we look at blood sugar balance, meal timing, caffeine, light exposure, sleep and wind-down routines
Oestrogen clearance: we focus on fibre, cruciferous vegetables, plant diversity, alcohol intake, gut health and the nutrients involved in methylation
Progesterone and cycle support: we look at stress load, blood sugar, nourishment and the foods and nutrients that support healthy cycles
Androgens and insulin patterns: we build meals around steady blood sugar, protein, fibre and healthy fats
Prioritising: we start with what will make the biggest difference first, then build from there
Re-testing: when appropriate, to see whether the changes are working
Food and lifestyle are framed as support, not a cure. Research on urinary hormone metabolites is still developing, so I always treat your results as one useful piece of evidence alongside how you feel, never in isolation.
I generally recommend hormone testing when symptoms are persistent, disruptive or not responding to the usual changes. You may be a good fit if you are experiencing:
Hot flushes, night sweats or waking in the night, particularly in perimenopause or menopause
Mood swings, anxiety, low mood or irritability, especially around your cycle
Premenstrual symptoms such as bloating, breast tenderness, headaches or intense PMS or PMDD
Irregular, heavy, painful or missing periods
Signs commonly associated with PCOS, such as acne, hair changes or stubborn weight around the middle
Ongoing exhaustion, feeling "wired but tired" or struggling to wind down
Brain fog, poor concentration or memory lapses
Low libido
Difficulty losing weight despite eating well and exercising
Hormonal symptoms after having a baby or coming off hormonal contraception
If you recognise yourself in this list, a hormone imbalance test may help us understand why. If you are unsure, that is exactly what the call is for. Read more about hormone imbalance in my blog article.
Is a hormone imbalance test right for you?
A quick note: if you experience bleeding between periods, bleeding after menopause or severe pelvic pain, please speak to your doctor first.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
A female hormone test measures your hormones and, in the case of the tests I offer, how your body processes them. It helps us see the patterns behind symptoms such as fatigue, mood changes, cycle problems or hot flushes.
-
No. I do not diagnose. Testing gives us useful information about your hormone patterns, which I use alongside your symptoms and history to guide your nutrition and lifestyle plan.
-
DUTCH stands for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones. The DUTCH Complete from Precision Analytical is a home test that evaluates 35 sex and adrenal hormones and their metabolites, your daily free cortisol and cortisone patterns, melatonin, 8-OHdG and nine organic acids, giving insight into both hormonal and metabolic health.
-
HuMap is a home urine test from Doctors Data that looks at your steroid hormones, how they are being metabolised, and your cortisol at several points across the day.
-
Women's Health+ is an at-home test from Genova Diagnostics that combines saliva hormone and cortisol measurements with urine markers of oestrogen metabolism and nutrient status, with an optional genetic analysis.
-
We decide this together on your discovery call, based on your symptoms, life stage and goals.
-
You collect them at home at set times of day, following the instructions in your kit, and post them to the lab. Some tests include a combination of urine and saliva samples, plus a cheek swab if you choose the optional genetic analysis. I will guide you on timing.
-
It depends on whether you are still having periods and which test you choose. For example, Genova advises premenopausal women to collect Women's Health+ samples between days 19 and 25 of the cycle if the aim is to look at ovulatory function, while perimenopausal and menopausal women can collect on any day. I will advise you on the best timing.
-
Typically, approx. 2 weeks from the lab receiving your sample. We then book your 45 minute results call.
-
£275 covers the cost of the test, the cost of shipping the test to you and the return shipping, plus a 45 minute results interpretation call. There are additional add-ons, such as genetic reports or neurotransmitter reports at an additional cost. These can be discussed during our free discovery call.
